Spin The Wheel

HISTORY

Roulette, or "Ruleta" (as it is known in other parts of the globe) is acknowledged to be one of the oldest games in gambling. The game itself first emerged way back in 17th century, and the layout of the game table first emerged in 1842. This game of chance was first played in France; the name itself (Roulette) literally means "small wheel". Its prominence in most gambling houses, both in Euprope and in America, began in the 18th century. The game's primary objective is to bet on numbers, and eventually win the game against the dealer, once your number is landed upon.

THE WHEEL

There are two kinds of roulette wheels, the original European wheel, and the American wheel. The original European wheel consists of 37 slots ranging from 0-36 while the American version has 38 slots ranging from 00-36 (note that the American roulette wheel has double zero). The purpose of the extra zero is to increase the advantage of the gambling house against the player. In European roulette the gambling house's advantage is 2.63% over the player, while in American roulette the gambling house advantage is 5.26%.

The table has two betting areas, the inner betting area and the outer betting area. The inner betting area consists of twelve rows or lines of three different numbers, thus making three vertical tall columns; the numbers 0 and 00 are placed at the top of the columns. The outer betting area, on the other hand, consists of boxes of different numbers, columns, the red and black color as well as odd and even numbers.

THE GAME

In the game, the gambling house/casino is represented by an individual called a croupier. Their role, as dealer, is to administer the game, to deal, and to handle all the bets and returns. Players ought to decide on which area they would situate their bets (either in the inside betting area or in the outside betting area), but never a combination for the purpose of meeting the minimum bet. The player can make any number of choices, it could either be a single number, or multiple numbers. When the players have placed their bets, the croupier sets the game in motion by rolling the ball inside the orb in an opposite direction of the spin of the wheel.

There are different gambling/betting rules in this game. Betting rules in the inner betting area differs from that of the outer betting area. In the inner betting area, there are betting terms such as follows: Straight up bet, split bet, street bet or line bet, corner bet or quad bet, basket bet and double street bet. In the outer betting area betting terms are as follows: Red/Black or Odd/Even bets, dozen bets, and column bets. Each of these betting strategies is dealt with corresponding payout amounts.

The players should always be reminded that whether Roulette is played as an entertainment, or as a gambling game, one fact does not change, the fact that it is always played against the house. It is always up to the player to attempt to increase their winnings by applying strategy, or just to hope for good luck..
